Our featured model today is a lad that so many of you have written requesting, more, more, MORE!  Michal's friend, Milan.

I'm afraid that the Newsletter today will go out late.  I've been hammering away all day on it and various emergencies, and it's 16:30 when I finally get down to scribbling, and at 17:00 I have the pleasure to shoot an absolutely stunning model. 

First, let me say a few things about ordering videos.  I get so many e-mails on that subject.  Many of you suggest that I sell the videos myself.  When I was in America I did that.  Here was my experience:  Selling videos is an entirely different business from making videos and shooting still photographs.  It's like being a photographer full time and also running a fruit stand full time.  The two jobs are completely different.  Selling videos is about bean counting.  You have to have the inventory on hand to fill the orders.  You must prepare mass mailings, etc.  Once an artist gets heavily involved into running a retail or wholesale business, the more his art suffers.  Take my word on it.  I've been there.  I would prefer to shoot and edit pictures than stick tapes in Jiffy bags.  That's why I've vowed never again to sell tangible items.  I'll leave that to someone else and let them make their money.

My videos are available from a variety of sources.  Some were made in partnership with All Worlds Video and others in cooperation with Catalina Video.  I do, however, highly recommend a 'one stop' mail order house in America for ordering the videos over the Internet.  That is House One.  I've known those folks for more years than either of us cares to remember.  They have a sterling reputation for honesty and service.  In fact, I've given them a six month exclusive window on my latest offering 'A Wank In The Woods.'

Many of you do write, however, asking where to buy the videos.  If you will notice the left hand 'navigation bar' of this Newsletter (in the frames version), there are several links.  One says 'Buy Videos' that goes directly to a 'William Higgins Page,' at House One.  And they've assembled pretty much all of my videos, or 95% of them at least.  What I will also try to do is to put a photo and link within the body of this and future Newsletters, listing the latest video and where to buy it.  I'll do that just below these comments.

Some things that I cannot do.  We do not distribute the videos in Europe.  We do not release them in PAL.  I would love to release them both in Europe and in PAL, because who hates extra income.  The reason that I do not is my commitment to protect the privacy of the models inside the Czech Republic.  If I release the videos on the wholesale market any place in Europe, then there is absolutely nothing that I can do to prevent stores inside the Czech Republic from buying them from either my European distributor or a sub-distributor and bringing them right back here for sale.  And the Czech stores would make a bee-line for these videos whenever they visit European distributors.  That is also the reason that I do not release them in PAL.  If I distributed the videos inside the Czech Republic, then not only would I be double-crossing the models, it would not be very long before you would see our source of models just dry up and wither away. 

I do, however, allow the videos to be sold at two stores in Amsterdam, Drakes and LeSalon.  That is because they are sold at retail, not wholesale prices, and Amsterdam is far enough away from Prague that permitting them to be sold there has never been a problem for us.  Also, we DO NOT sell our videos at Drakes in Prague.  I know that many of you have been disappointed to learn this. 

As far as NTSC is concerned:  Anyone who lives in a PAL country can easily view NTSC video on a PAL TV.  You just have to buy a VCR that plays NTSC on a PAL TV.  All of the VCRs that I buy do this.  They always work pretty well.  And they are NOT expensive.  So, you just buy that type of VCR once, and you can watch NTSC videos from then on.  When I moved to Europe, buying such a VCR was the FIRST thing that I did.  And they're all still going strong 11 years later.

Also, pretty soon, I will be distributing DVDs of my videos.  I will not sell them in Europe (except in Amsterdam).  But you can buy them from America and they will hopefully play on most DVD players.  Plus, because of their size, they are much easier to ship by mail order.  The first DVD that I will release will be 'The Jan Dvorak Story.'

House One will not ship to Germany.  That is because there are many, many problems with the German Zoll.  And the consequences have not been nice for the people who order videos.  Anyone in Germany might consider stocking up on videos when they visit Amsterdam.
